Adalet R Garmiany - Silence
Saturday 25th March
Silence is a participatory performance that draws from both and Middle Eastern culture and western contemporary art. Through actions influenced by the artist's Dervish and Sufi roots, Adalet seeks to draw out the more spiritual side of our humanity simultaneously questioning the mundane and the rational. Using sand and suspended coloured material a visually rich and atmospheric environment is constructed opening up for the audience a space for quiet contemplation or participatory actions.
Originally from Kurdistan-Iraq, Adalet R Garmiany attempts to interpret, through his performances and installations, cultural ideas from Kurdistan and the Middle East, into a western context, by using historical and religious elements, such as Zoroastrianism and Sufism.
